Slow Cooker Short RIbs

What I love about this recipe is you set it and forget it. It ALWAYS gets amazing compliments.

  • 1 Cup Red Wine, don't cook with what you wouldn't drink
  • 2/3 Cup Ketchup
  • 3 Tbs. Soy Sauce
  • 2 Lg. Cloves Garlic, crushed
  • 3 Tbs. Brown Sugar, light or dark
  • 1/2 tsp. Ground Black Pepper
  • 4 Lbs. Short Ribs
  • 1 Medium Sweet Onion, you can use yellow, chopped or sliced thin.


  • Whisk together wine, ketchup, soy sauce, garlic, brown sugar and pepper, in the slow cooker.
    Add the ribs and make sure they are mostly covered with liquid.
  • Distribute the onions over the top of the ribs and liquid.
    Cover and cook on low for about 7 hours.
    Serve on top of mashed potatoes, rice or polenta.
  • You can make this recipe in the oven. Use a heavy pan with lid, think dutch oven. Cook at 325° for about 4 hours. Check for tenderness with a fork.
