Ingredients
1CupRed Wine, don't cook with what you wouldn't drink
2/3CupKetchup
3Tbs.Soy Sauce
2Lg. Cloves Garlic, crushed
3Tbs.Brown Sugar, light or dark
1/2tsp.Ground Black Pepper
4Lbs.Short Ribs
1MediumSweet Onion, you can use yellow, chopped or sliced thin.
Instructions
Whisk together wine, ketchup, soy sauce, garlic, brown sugar and pepper, in the slow cooker.Add the ribs and make sure they are mostly covered with liquid.
Distribute the onions over the top of the ribs and liquid.Cover and cook on low for about 7 hours.Serve on top of mashed potatoes, rice or polenta.
You can make this recipe in the oven. Use a heavy pan with lid, think dutch oven. Cook at 325° for about 4 hours. Check for tenderness with a fork.
