Maple Glazed Cookies

Maple brown sugar goodness in a cookie.
Course: Endings
Cuisine: American
Keyword: brown sugar, maple syrup, maple,
Servings: 2 dozen

Ingredients

Cookies

  • 1/2 cup Unsalted Butter
  • 1 cup Brown Sugar
  • 1/4 cup Real Maple Syrup
  • 1 Lg. Egg
  • 1 tsp. Vanilla paste, you can use extract
  • 2-1/2 cups All-purpose Flour
  • 1 tsp. Baking Soda

Glaze

  • 2 cups Confectioners Sugar
  • 1/4 cup Real Maple Syrup
  • 2-3 Tbs. Whole Milk

Instructions

Cookies

  • Brown your butter. Over a low flame let butter melt, stirring constantly. Once you start to see your milk solids turn toasty brown, remove from heat. You need to watch it cause it will burn quickly. Let it cool.
    Preheat oven to 350°.
In the bowl of a stand mixer, fitted with the paddle attachment, combine butter and brown sugar, until fluffy.
With mixer running, on low, gradually pour in syrup. Then add egg and vanilla paste. Blend well.
In a medium bowl whisk flour and baking soda. Gradually add dry ingredients to wet. Do not over mix. You can finish mixing by hand.
  • I like to use a small dishes, ice cream scoop to get even sized cookies. Scoop out dough and roll into 2" balls.
Place the dough balls onto a parchment lined baking sheet, about 2" apart.
Use the bottom of a glass or the palm of your hand to press down, gently, on the balls to make a thick round wafer shape.
Bake for 10-12 minutes. Don't over bake, you want them to be chewy.

Glaze

  • In a medium bowl, pour the confectioners sugar and start whisking in the maple syrup. If it gets thick, stir in milk, one tablespoon at a time. I personally like a lot of maple flavor so I use more syrup than milk. Add milk or syrup to desired flavor and consistency.
  • Dip cookies and glaze and lift with a twist. Set cookies on a wire rack to let glaze set.
If you want to get fancy, top with bacon or potato chips.
